Asus J206: The music slider

Asus has come up with a new music phone in order to improve their standing in the highly competitive cell phone market. Asus has been trying hard recently to grab a larger pie of this big market which is dominated by giants like Nokia and Samsung, but so far they have only been midly succesful. The J206 seems at first look a step in the right direction. But Asus has left some major flaws in the J206. For example, despite being touted as the music phone, they gave it a mere 60 megabytes of memory which can be said to be completely inadequate for any self respecting music player. It does have a micro SD card slot, but things are just not the same when it is trying to compete in a market where competitors have phones with gigabyte capacities. However its pretty alright if you do not mind juggling around your favorite songs every once in a while. Even Nokia N91 has the same amount of memory.

Credit must be given however for a well made design and features which include a 220 x 176 pixel color display; with a 1.3 megapixel camera and MP3 / AAC / WAV support for music files. Asus also is quick to emphasise on the fact that the slider though having a design that looks very similar to that of the Apple iPod is something that they have been working on for more than a year. The primary difference is that this touchpad is heat based which makes it much easier to get the phone / music player to do your bidding.
